A very good summary of the Canadian media lemmings and their relationship to the detainee issue. I view the Parliamentary Press Gallery as a group of insular, incestuous, and conformist so-called journalists, who because the nature of their jobs is to dig for controversy, will do so on the flimsiest of evidence. They lack credibility and one should take anything they write or say with a grain of salt.MJM
Time to give this detainee nonsense a rest

There is still not a jot of proof that Canada and Canadians did anything wrong while overseeing and handing over Taliban prisoners of war during the early days of the combat mission in southern Afghanistan. The so-called scandal has been much ado about nothing.
You would not know that, though, listening to the inflammatory views expressed by New Democrats and Liberals Wednesday when thousands of detainee documents were finally released after an investigation that cost millions and tarnished the reputations of several men who deserved far better. These politicians continue to hint that bad things happened. They say that despite the document dump, we may never get at the truth.
The scandal here has nothing to do with Afghan detainees. It has to do with how the Harper government and Canadian journalists dealt with the allegations. The government gave the impression of trying to hide information when in fact there was nothing to cover up. And journalists repeatedly made damning accusations without any proof, even suggesting that some Canadians may have committed war crimes...
